When will we learn

When will we learn that common sense has no home in Washington? I watch dumbfounded as this healthcare debate goes from stupid to insane. As the wars just drag on. As the economy continues to disintegrate along with allot of American lives. What do we see out of Washington? We see two groups of people so concerned about keeping their jobs and making the other side lose theirs, that none of them are doing the people's business. This is both sides of the same coin. Both sides will tell you that so and so is my good friend we just don't agree. Then they go about either pushing legislation or stalling legislation according to the party line. Nothing gets done. No help for the many Americans suffering through these times.
What about the people. What about the small businesses going out of business and losing everything. People losing jobs, homes and hope! What about the people!
We are not blameless in this. We sit silently, waiting and hoping something will change. We listen to all the news media touting their choice of dogma. Is there a news media in this country that will give us the news without stuffing their ideas down our throat? The media is no longer free; they are also too worried about keeping their jobs to do their jobs. We listen to the politicians we send to Washington and all they say is what we want to hear but nothing changes, nothing gets done.
Still we sit silently. I think sometimes about my parents and I wonder what they would think of this country now. Would they even recognize it, because this is not the country they taught me to love. The one they spoke of was to be the home of the free. Are we free? The home of the brave? Who will be brave enough to stand for the ideals that once belonged to the people of this country? We have become chattel to big business, to corporations and their lobbyists and to the government of this land. They are free to write the rules and to tell us what we need to do. To have us work for them with little protection. Obama promised change but the lobbyists are the loudest voices still. The Healthcare Industry is running the debate and the misguided follow like lemmings. No common sense will come to us from Washington until those of us who long for it demand it.

  1. I completely agree, now how do we demand change effectively?
